Mark your calendars.

A couple of be-on-the-lookout dates:

Daughtry’s new music video, “It’s Not Over,” will be added to VH1’s rotation as of January 15th.

Katharine McPhee’s new single, “Over It,” officially goes for radio station adds on the same day. It’s already gotten some decent radio airplay.

Regrettably, Taylor Hicks’ people don’t seem to be as on the ball as Kat’s and Chris’s, as the most we’ve gotten in news about “Just To Feel That Way” is that it will be impacting radio “soon.” I do trust that Arista knows what it’s doing, but it’s frustrating for a fan. And I don’t even listen to radio. In any event, there have been reports of “Give Me Tonight” being played in Japan, of all places. Hmm…

Don’t worry about Taylor, he’ll always be popular at carnivals.

Well Amanda, maybe he would fit in with the carnival with the rest of freaks, like YOU.

Keep it civil, kids. I get far too few comments to start hitting the delete key.

I concur with idolicious. What I like best are the rides, and Taylor will take us on a long, long ride while many others will be short and sweet.

Kat- After following Taylor all these months and wondering what the heck is going on with his single release, I just think that they( Jrecords, Arista, Taylor and THe Firm) know what they are doing. Yes as a fan it sucks, but I’m not too worried. Taylor doesn’t seem to do things the traditional way. Hell he was the least traditional contestant let alone winner of AI, why change now. There is a method to the madness. I just remember that it’s a marathon not a sprint. They ( Arista and JRecords) are not going to throw Taylor to the curb at this point. We have heard the rumors about the labels expectations of this album, so I really do believe there is a plan in place. Right or wrong, the only way things change is if one person steps up and breaks from tradition. It’s not as if there is a time frame that Taylor has to sell x amount of cd’s, so why stress about it. Carrie and Kelly have/had long drawn out sales that peaked and valleyed over the course of a year+.Drop a single in the next month and build sales to a sustained level and you have a platinum album. His second cd won’t be out for another 1 1/2 to 2years, so why burn the cd out in 3 months. The American public has never been known for their attention spans, but keep something in front of them for the long term and things aren’t as easily forgotten. Agree with me or not, I just am not overly concerned with his single coming out this week or the end of the month. Say he has sustained sales aroung 12000 a week for the rest of the year that’s 624,000 more albums + what has already sold and that’s 1,000,000+ in a year. Most artist would kill to have that kind of sales of a debute let alone a second, third or forth album.

Kat- Keep up all your hard work..Love your blog. Enjoy your writing styles and your choices of articles to include!!! Great Job!!!

Other sites, pimped by the record label, are asking fans not to second guessed Mr. Hicks’ team. Well, screw that!

Look, I never texted a vote or stood by the buses, but fans are concerned that someone, for which they have developed an affection, is getting the short shift.

I’ve seen bands promote a video without a single. I’ve seen bands promote a single (for a short time) without a video. BUT, I have NEVER seen a successful artist promotion, by a major record company, try to move units without having either one. Clive, step towards the light and go gently into that good night.

I love “The Firm” and what they have been able to accomplish for him. Give the guy a single from which The Firm can mount a campaign. Unless there is something we don’t know, like Taylor’s finishing rehab or is suffering from some sort of panic disorder (It’s bizarre that I hope one of these is true and the real problem is not poor management brought on by arrogance and incompetence), then let’s move some real units by repetitive airplay on television or the radio.

I will step down from my box now. The voices are starting to break through my aluminum foil helmet and the hobos in the rail yard are signaling to me that it’s time for us to go.

“Clive, step towards the light and go gently into that good night.” ‘PayTheDevil’ not only do you have a great handle, your sense of humor is amazing LOL. Let’s leave the panic disorders to Clay, one Idol with that condition is plenty – but yeah, time at hand to get the machine fired up and send the tunes to radio. No mentions anyplace either of videos. Do they not have faith he’ll be well received? *rolling my eyes*

Daughtry may end up ultimately surpassing sales figures permanently, based on clever (at least present) management alone. Not to instill the sense of continuing competition, there is none anymore, show over and all that, just making a comparison in marketing strategies. Daughtry, following traditions, Hicks team, taking their sweet time. Granted as was said in an earlier posting, that Taylor has done things differently all along, sometimes being different, especially in marketing not a stellar idea.

    On with the marketing show!
    Groove on Soulman ;-)…….

What the kids are sayin’

"I hate them all. The judges, TPTB, the blatant manipulation, the songs, the contestants, everything. I'm a die-hard Cook fan, but for the love of god, at least try to look like you're enjoying yourself up there! Please? Syesha was awesome but she ruined it by being completely shameless and disgusting. Yes, being on American Idol is exactly like the civil rights movement, except for the part where you're fighting to make the world a better place."

"All I can say after the disgusting display tonight of favoritism towards the mediocrity that is David A. - good luck trying to market and make money off of that kid, American Idol. (Not to mention good luck dealing with his father.) All the teeny boppers may buy up his American Idol coronation single, but they will quickly forget about him before the album comes out. And I shudder to think of a David A. album - song after song of unrelenting sameness and heavy breathing. Why they are pimping him for the win is beyond me."

"This show was simply a hot buttered mess tonight. And Jason "needs to be arrested for what he did to I Shot the Sheriff. But I hope he stays. He amuses me. "
