This and that.

“I’m learning about how the media can construe words…I’m learning quickly.”  —Taylor Hicks on the misinterpretation of his Relix interview (click here to watch the video)

“Miss Universe with talent.” –Popmeister David Foster describing Katharine McPhee. (And really, that can be taken either as a compliment or an insult, can’t it?)

“I would like to use wider lenses pushed in close on the band, giving them a bit of a more immortal, ‘godlike’ feeling. ” –Darren Karr, director of DAUGHTRY’s upcoming “It’s Not Over” music video, on how he plans to shoot the band.

Brandon Jane, a twenty-five-year-old pop/folk singer/songwriter, co-authored the Taylor Hicks track “Give Me Tonight”…and she’s pretty giddy about it. Ms. Jane is currently searching for her own record deal. She’s got some original music up on her Myspace Music page, and while she could definitely use some polishing…she’s not half-bad.

Katharine McPhee’s playlist, according to Shape Magazine:
“Strong Enough,” Sheryl Crow
“All I Want for Christmas is You,” Mariah Carey
“The New Workout Plan,” Kanye West
“Stand,” BeBe Winans
“Makes Me Wanna Pray,” Christina Aguilera

“Apparently there are some folks out there who think the man should continue to want to have the A.I. title permanently attached to his name, like some kind of British HRH moniker, i.e., American Idol Taylor Hicks.” —BlogCritics’s Jewels Richardson on the Relix stuff

What the kids are sayin’

"I hate them all. The judges, TPTB, the blatant manipulation, the songs, the contestants, everything. I'm a die-hard Cook fan, but for the love of god, at least try to look like you're enjoying yourself up there! Please? Syesha was awesome but she ruined it by being completely shameless and disgusting. Yes, being on American Idol is exactly like the civil rights movement, except for the part where you're fighting to make the world a better place."

"All I can say after the disgusting display tonight of favoritism towards the mediocrity that is David A. - good luck trying to market and make money off of that kid, American Idol. (Not to mention good luck dealing with his father.) All the teeny boppers may buy up his American Idol coronation single, but they will quickly forget about him before the album comes out. And I shudder to think of a David A. album - song after song of unrelenting sameness and heavy breathing. Why they are pimping him for the win is beyond me."

"This show was simply a hot buttered mess tonight. And Jason "needs to be arrested for what he did to I Shot the Sheriff. But I hope he stays. He amuses me. "
